CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE

STONE’S KNIGHTS WERE NOT FOOLED, nor were they impressed as he stood up and dusted himself off. The water was fine although a bit on the sweet side. He wasn’t sure why he did it with the Princess still missing, but there were so many serious faces that he thought it might bring a smile.

“Stone, we knew you weren’t dead.”

“Either that or you could care less.”

Ashta, one of the knight’s that had scouted ahead was returning. “We have two people over here; one injured!”

Observing so many knights approaching was impressive to Lucinda, and she wondered if they were from Leeander, and when she saw Stone she knew they were.

Stone nodded to her from his horse. “He took an arrow?”

Lucinda adjusted her position as her back was breaking against the tree. “He took an arrow to the shoulder but a passing knight, a woman named Kassandra, healed the wound with some magic though he remains weak from blood loss.”

Stone nodded. “You look familiar. Are you from Leeander?”

“Yes on the edge of the kingdom.”

“Have you seen Princess Alexa?” Ashta asked.

“The Princess is in Leeander. She arrived two days ago. I saw her arrival.” Lucinda put Shawn’s head on the ground from her knee, and he opened his eyes.

Stone had never heard sweeter words. “Oh, praise God. I feared I had lost her. We’ll get you back to the kingdom and see if we can move you a little closer to the castle. And on the way, you can tell me of your plight.”
